Suamico is a 36-square-mile municipality located in the northwest corner of Brown County, just five miles north of the City of Green Bay.
Celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2008, Suamico has historically been known as a rural community. Decades ago, most of the Village's land was used as farmland or covered by woods and wetlands.
In recent years, however, development activity has been strong and consistent. With a current population of just under 11,000, houses are now interspersed between the woodlands, while cropland and pastures have given way to subdivisions and retail developments. Throughout this development period, Suamico residents and civic leaders have always worked to maintain the scenic beauty of the area. One example is the awe-inspiring Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve.
Outdoor recreation is abundant within the Suamico area. Hiking, biking, cross-country ski trails, and bayside fishing spots keep area residents active. The Village also offers fine dining, an entertaining nightlife and a number of distinct boutique shops.
